this was a well-written, romantic read. the development between Lucinda and Samantha was realistic and all of the supporting characters of the book added humor, context and dimension. the reader received a view into the life of the main characters and gained sufficient background to understand why each reacted in the manner captured. the love displayed between Lucinda and Samantha was unexpected, sensual and romantic (with heat too) and the overall plot unfolded in a way to keep the reader engaged. I really enjoyed this book thoroughly.
I got this to read because I received the second story in the series from NetGalley and even though I'm sure I could read it as a standalone, I prefer to read books in order.This is a nice, sweet romance. There not too much drama, and what there is is handled fairly well, without tedious repetition or overblown dramatics.I liked both characters, but even though they spent a lot of time together, I felt like my knowledge of them and their motivations was somewhat superficial. We're told things about Luce's past, but Samantha's backstory and family are more or less glossed over, even with her mother visiting, and the way Sam reveals her relationship with Luce to her mother seemed like a throw-away, when it could have added depth to the story if handled while her mother was there.Even so, the interactions between the characters are pretty charming, and for those who love sex scenes, there more than enough in here to keep you occupied (I actually though there were too many, but YMMV). I was pleased by the fact that there were multiple points where I thought the author would go the tried and true route but she deviated, which I appreciated.As the start of a series I found it interesting enough, and the hook of the dating agency lends itself to further books. It's a nice solid debut novel, and I look forward to reading more in the series.
***No Synopsis***This was a very lovely, romantic read with two very likable main characters. It's a les fic romance so obviously they are both drop dead gorgeous, but aside from that, each character had her own interesting idiosyncrasies and dialogue patterns which I appreciate. They also had interesting back stories. We get to hear some of Lucinda's and a little bit of Samantha's, but I definitely would have loved to hear more. So often writers offer up two women who sound and act the same or sound and act so different that you wonder what they see in each other. When Luce and Sam meet, they immediately click, and it seems that an easy friendship is about to bloom. Their attraction is palpable and I love how Ms. Riley has them always holding hands or touching in some way. The book is unusual in that it doesn't have the traditional break up about two thirds of the way in. It comes very late and it is resolved quickly. That would be my only complaint about the book. The circumstance that breaks them apart is quickly taken care of, but one of the women simply behaves in a manner that people really don't do in real life, but that is very characteristic in this genre as well. You never hear a quick, "I'm sorry. I behaved poorly. Do you forgive me?" because, well, where is the drama in that? I will say that Ms. Riley has a flair for the love scenes. The kissing alone is blush-worthy. I definitely recommend this book.
I really enjoyed this book! It was a fun read, kept my attention andhad a lot of heat. The characters of Lucinda, in charge of a highend PR firm, and Samantha, the Match Maker, had high-poweredjobs and were never successful in love, but they both met theirultimate match.
There's plenty of information about the plot here, so I will just say I loved this book. I have over 400 in this genre on my Kindle and I will say this is a new top 10-15. Why? Because all the reasons these books are my "escape" are found here: mature, feminine, intelligent professional women. Strong and assertive in their professional lives, willing to gradually reveal their vulnerability in their personal relationship. Moving emotions, very hot intimate scenes, and of course fierce love. Once in a while I read one of these books and think to myself, "okay, when these two get together it's going to be awesome." This book did that for me. Whatever she's doing, I hope the author quits her day job and focuses on writing because I'll be buying.
I was fortunate to receive a copy of this in return for an honest review from Netgalley. Samantha owns and operates a high end matching service while Lucinda is a big shot in a PR type firm. These two characters hit it off the first time they meet and feelings start to develop. I really enjoyed the relationship between these two and the development of them individually as well as together. They were believable and brought a lot to the table. The only part that I felt was a little implausible was the drama with Samantha's ex and his infidelity possibly ruining her career but I guess all romances need some drama. Overall I loved this book and I highly recommend it to other readers!!
Miss Match is a very sweet story about a couple trying to succeed in life and love. Who can't relate that? Quick read you can't put down and definitely worth your time.
