Unfortunately the author writes using very poor grammar and in an amateurish way. For example: "Now, that you know what's the deal with IPv6 and how an address looks like . . ." Huh? What's with the comma after the "now." and what's with the words "how an address looks like," not to mention the extraneous part about "the deal with?" Any decent editor would rewrite this sentence fragment as "Now that you know what an IPv6 address looks like . . ." or "Now that you know how an IPv6 address looks..." the entire book is written in this odd way.I found the illustrations difficult to follow. I also found a great deal of misinformation. As an example, he states that EUI-64 calls out the second bit of the MAC address is flipped from 0 to 1 or 1 to 0. Untrue. It is the seventh bit that is flipped.I will stick with books that come from publishers who have professional writers and editing staffs.
For $2.99, this book has great value for me. I needed to set up a couple of routers and endpoints for some IPv6 testing but I don't know much about all things IPv6 compared to IPv4. This book is a quick read and covered all the basics so that now I have a fighting chance to configure my IPv6 test network. The author gets right to the point quickly without any hogwash. His grammar is fine enough for me and it does not make it difficult to understand or comprend the book.
A nice, quick and simple look at IPv6. Covers the basics and gives you some practical implementation examples. Highly recommended.
It is a very interesting how ip adresses work. This book has much information about it which is described very well. Thanks to the author for this amazing book.
Cant beat free tech books
It is a quick getting started book. If you are very new to ipv6 then and only then buy it. It’s an overview.
Quickly brings the reader up to speed on practical application of the IPv6 protocol. Very useful to professionals that already understand routing and subnetting.
I thought I was purchasing a detailed book on IPV6. You could get more information on the Internet as far as that goes.
